Summary: we store your account (name and email) and the moves you record and, if applicable, a token to send you notifications. The app uses the camera only to scan the container code (it stores no photos) and gets your location only while the app is open, when you record an in-transit move; never in the background. We do not sell data or show ads.
1. Who this applies to
This policy explains how Norvia (“Norvia”, “we”), a software development company based in Puerto Rico, collects, uses and protects personal information in:
- the norviapr.com website;
- the Norvia Yard web portal (yard.norviapr.com) used by supervisors;
- the Norvia Yard Android app used by drivers; and
- any other Norvia application that links to this policy.
2. Our role and your company's role
Our applications are provided to businesses (our “clients”). If you use Norvia Yard, it is because your employer or the company you work for subscribed to it and created an account for you.
In that case your company decides what information is recorded and what it is used for, and Norvia processes that information on your company's behalf and under its instructions. For questions about how your company uses your data, contact your company first. You can also write to us and we will help route the request.
3. Information we collect
Account data
Name, username or email, company, role, assigned shift and password (stored only as a salted hash; no one at Norvia can see it).
Move activity records
Each container visit and each move: container number, assigned dock or spot, dispatch to the driver, date and time of each move, delivery to the port and the user who recorded it.
Notifications (if applicable)
If the app sends you alerts (for example, a dispatched move or free time about to expire), we store a device notification token. Android notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service.
Technical and security data
IP address, sign-in date and time, and an audit trail of actions taken in the system.
Precise location — Android app
The app gets the device's precise location only while the app is open and only when you record an “in transit” move. The coordinates are stored with that move. The app never gets your location in the background or tracks you continuously.
Camera — Android app
The app uses the camera only to scan the container code. It does not take or store photos, and it does not access the photos on your phone.
If we add features that use location or the camera in other ways, we will update this policy before turning them on.
Website
norviapr.com does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our network provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. If you email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you include in the message.
4. How we use information
- To provide and run the applications: record visits and moves, show location by dock and spot, dispatch moves and calculate free time and its alerts.
- To identify the container by scanning its code with the camera, and to record where each in-transit move happens, with the coordinates stored on that move.
- Continuous improvement: from move records we calculate indicators such as dwell time, free time usage and moves per shift. Your company can see these indicators, including per driver, and use them under its own policies.
- Security: authenticating users, preventing unauthorized access and keeping the audit trail.
- Technical support and service communications.
- Improving our products using aggregated or de-identified information.
- Meeting legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
5. Who we share it with
- Your company (our client), which manages accounts and accesses its own operations data.
- Infrastructure providers that help us run the service, such as our server provider, Cloudflare (network and security) and, if applicable, Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications). They receive only what they need to provide their service.
- Authorities, when required by law, court order or valid legal process.
- A successor in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, which will remain bound by this policy.
One client company's data is never shared with another client company.
6. Security
We protect information with encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), per-company data isolation, role-based access, hashed passwords, sign-in rate limits and an audit trail. No system is completely secure; if we detect an incident affecting your data, we will notify your company and, where applicable, you and the authorities as the law requires.
7. How long we keep it
We keep information while your company uses the service and as agreed with it. Move records and the audit trail may be kept for up to five (5) years for audit and compliance purposes.
When the service ends, we delete or de-identify the company's data within 90 days, except what law or contract requires us to keep longer.
8. Your rights and choices
- Location: you can deny or withdraw the location permission in Android settings. The app keeps working; in-transit moves are recorded without coordinates.
- Camera: you can deny or withdraw the camera permission. If you do, you will not be able to scan the container code with the app.
- Notifications: you can turn them off in Android settings. If you do, you will not receive alerts about dispatched moves or free time about to expire.
- Access and correction: you can ask for a copy of your data or for us to correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion: you can ask us to delete your account. The steps are on Delete account.
- To use any of these options, email info@norviapr.com. If the request belongs to your company, we will forward it.
9. Minors
Our applications are for work use and are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
10. Where data is processed
We process information in Puerto Rico and the United States. Some providers may process technical data in other countries, always under confidentiality and security obligations.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with its effective date and, if the change is significant, notify our clients or show a notice in the app.
